Dual/Combined/Concurrent Degrees
MBA/JD Dual Degree
The University of San Diego offers a concurrent degree program with the School of Law and the Knauss School of Business. Students may earn their JD and MBA degrees concurrently. Students who are interested in pursuing concurrent degrees must apply to and be accepted by both schools. Six units from each program can cross over and count towards the other degree.
Students must fulfill all other degree requirements for each degree.
MBA/MSBA Dual Degree
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) dual degree program allows students to obtain an MBA and an MSBA degree by completing specific prescribed courses and 67 credit hours. Students benefit from both curricula and receive two diplomas upon completion of all course work.
In order to pursue the dual degree program, students must apply to and be accepted by both the MBA and the MSBA programs. Students will participate in both programs concurrently, focusing on MBA coursework in the first year and adding MSBA courses in the second year of study.
The MBA program will accept the following 14 units in transfer from the MSBA program to MBA program requirements:
MSBA 502 Analytics Programming (3) – elective units
MSBA 504 Data Management (3) – elective units
MSBA 506 Prescriptive Analytics (2) for GSBA 503 Problem Formulation and Decision Analysis (2)
MSBA 510 International Consulting Project (3) for GSBA 593 International Consulting Project (3) or GSBA 595 Business Consulting (3)
MSBA 511 Data Mining for Business Analytics (3) – elective units
The MSBA program will waive the Career and Professional Development requirement for students who have completed the Career and Professional Development course in the MBA program.
Students must fulfill all other degree requirements for each degree. Students cannot waive classes from either program and also participate in the dual degree program.
MBA/MSF Dual Degree
The Master of Business Administration - Master of Science in Finance dual degree program allows students to obtain an MBA and an MSF degree by completing specific prescribed courses for a total of 57 units. Students benefit from both business and finance courses and receive two diplomas upon completion of all course work.
In order to pursue the dual degree program, students must apply to and be accepted by both the MBA and the MSF program. Students who wish to complete the MBA-MSF dual degree program will participate in both programs concurrently, focusing on MBA coursework in the first year and adding MSF courses in the second year of study.
The MBA program will accept the following 12 units in transfer from the MSF program to fulfill MBA elective units:
MFIN 511 Advanced Financial Reporting and Analysis (3)
MFIN 512 Equity Valuation and Modeling (3)
MFIN 523 Fixed Income (3)
MFIN 527 Derivatives (3)
The MSF program will waive the MSF career and professional development course requirement for any students who completed the MBA career and professional development course and accept the following courses in transfer from the MBA program:
GSBA 510 Financial Accounting (3) for MFIN 507 Financial Reporting and Analysis (3)
GSBA 505 Financial Management and Analysis (3) for MFIN 522 Corporate Finance (3)
GSBA 518 Economics in a Global Environment (3) for MFIN 525 Intl. Finance and Economics (3)
Students must fulfill all other degree requirements for each degree. Students cannot waive classes from either program and also participate in the dual degree program.
MBA/MSRE Dual Degree
The Master of Business Administration - Master of Science in Real Estate dual degree program allows students to obtain an MBA and an MSRE degree by completing specific prescribed courses for a total of 64 credit hours. Students benefit from both business and real estate courses and receive two degrees upon completion of all coursework. In order to pursue the dual degree program, students must apply to and be accepted by both the MBA and the MSRE program.
The MBA program will accept the following 13 MSRE units as MBA electives: MSRE 503 (3 units), MSRE 505 (2 units), MSRE 507 (3 units), MSRE 509 (3 units), and MSRE 514 (2 units).
Students must fulfill all other degree requirements for each degree. Students cannot waive classes from either program and also participate in the dual degree program.
MBA/MSSCM Dual Degree
The Master of Business Administration - Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) dual degree program allows students to obtain an MBA and an MSSCM degree by completing specific prescribed courses for a total of 60 units. Students benefit from both business and supply chain management courses and receive two diplomas upon completion of all coursework.
In order to pursue the dual degree program, students must apply to and be accepted by both the MBA and the MSSCM program. Students who wish to complete the MBA-MSSCM dual degree program will participate in both programs concurrently.
The MBA program will accept the following 14 credit hours from the MSSCM program’s general supply chain track to fulfill MBA elective units (note: students who pursue the Health Care SCM track will complete additional units since MSCM 504 and MSCM 514 are not included in the Health Care SCM track):
MSCM 501 Supply Chain Strategy (3) for GSBA 560 Supply Chain Systems (3)
MSCM 503 Supply Management (3) for GSBA 561 Supply Management (3)
MSCM 504 Operations Management (3) for GSBA 569 Operations & Global Supply Chain Management (3)
MSCM 512 Strategic Cost Management (3) for GSBA 562 Strategic Cost Management (3)
MSCM 514 Sustainable Global Supply Chain Management (2) for GSBA 563 Sustainable Global Supply Chain Management (2).
The MSSCM program will accept the following 6 credit hours in transfer from the MBA program to meet 4-units of MSSCM required coursework:
GSBA 515 Leading Multicultural Teams and Organizations (3) for MSCM 507 Leadership and Change Management For Supply Chain Managers (2)
GSBA 505 Financial Management and Analysis (3) for MSCM 511 Finance and Risk Management (2)
Students must fulfill all other degree requirements for each degree. Students cannot waive classes from either program and also participate in the dual degree program.
Program requirements are subject to change if any updates are made to the curricula of the second program between the time that the student starts the first program and the second program. Students cannot waive classes from either program and also participate in the dual degree program. Students pursuing a dual degree are not permitted to take elective courses outside of their specific business programs.
